Alan Khazei is a social entrepreneur who has invented ways to empower people to make a difference. Alan is the Co-Founder and former CEO of City Year, a national service program that was the model for AmeriCorps. Alan serves as a Senior Advisor to the Carnegie Corporation focused on developing a strategy for the future of national service. Alan also serves as Co-Chair and Senior Advisor of More Perfect, which is focused on renewing democracy through five “Democracy Goals” of civics, service, bridge building, trusted elections, and trusted information. Alan is the author of Big Citizenship: How Pragmatic Idealism Can Bring Out The Best In America. He has served on more than twenty non profit boards focused on issues including: education, fighting hunger and poverty, promoting democracy, advancing service and social entrepreneurship, empowering veterans, strengthening local journalism, and empowering young people.
